ABOUT
HI, I’M KATHERINE
Katherine Marr, CPA CA
I studied Commerce at Queen’s University, and articled at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto and San Francisco. I have lived and worked in Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London, England. I have worked in search in the Greater Toronto Area for 15 years. I'm a Partner at a boutique firm. I have spent my career coaching hundreds, likely thousands, of professionals including impressive tenured Executive professionals to land their dream job, career pivot, and lead hundreds of clients to find their perfect unicorn hire. Often during times of tremendous rapid growth with many dynamic competing priorities and external market conditions.
I have two young children who I adore, and a full active life filled with many passions! I'm a creative optimist who has visited every continent, 30+ countries, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, summited Everest Base Camp, and slept overnight on Antarctica! All on my own! I love forest bathing, hiking, skiing, golf, reading, personal development, travel, adventure, business, wellness and sports. I truly believe that with the right guidance and practice, you can intentionally design your day, so you can love what you do, and how you do it. Things can, and should, feel good!
“SEE NOT TO CHANGE THE WORLD, BUT TO CHOOSE TO CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT THE WORLD.”
- A COURSE IN MIRACLES
I’m a career professional, entrepreneur, and a multi-passionate mom of two young kids. I have a five year-old daughter, and a three year-old son. I like to think of myself as a creative optimist, a possibility pusher, a term one of my friends, a true optimist created. I’m a business mindset and leadership coach. I’ve worked in recruiting for 15 years. I have coached hundreds, probably thousands, of candidates and companies as a hiring business partner.
I see mindset benefiting people personally and professionally, in numerous ways. From a positive attitude, infectious energy, decisiveness, exceptional manners, eg. things like sending a thank you note. They really do make a difference. I love helping people attract what they want, instead of chasing it. And I can help you do this.
I have pivoted personally and professionally many times, started over and built my own comeback (more than once).
I’m addicted to personal growth. I always have been. About two years ago, I decided I intentionally wanted to love my day. Have things feel good. Be easy. Career, business, relationships, wellness, parenting, all of it. With the help of my own incredible coach, I spend about 10+ hours a week on the “invisible-study”, as I like to call it. Reading, listening, reframing, masterminding, learning and growing. This lights me up.
What do you look forward to in your day? What can you outsource and delegate? With suggestions of how to do it! What can you remove altogether? What can you add that lights you up? What can you say NO to?
I love travel and adventure, I’m lucky enough to have visited over 30 countries, and all seven continents. I’ve slept overnight on Antarctica, sumitted Mount Kilimanjaro, and Everest Base Camp. Going on these trips on my own no less… I’ve lived and worked all over the world. One of my favourite quotes is “I haven’t been everywhere. But it’s on my list”. And while we design our day, sometimes life has other plans.
When I was 29 I sold my condo, quit a successful job in search. Left where I was born and raised, and moved to Los Angeles, California. On my own. I got incorporated and started my own fashion business, an E-Commerece play focused in celebrity style. A new country, industry, and role. Bold. I built a beautiful life there. I never planned to move back to Toronto, or a corporate role. I knew I’d regret never trying more than I’d regret trying and failing. Well, almost three years ago my mom had a life changing accident that brought me home immediately and indefinitely. And while I don’t love telling anyone experiencing big or small trauma that everything happens for a reason, I rebuilt my life here. I met the father of my two beautiful children. 10 years later, I’ve built resilience. It’s made me stronger and grateful. I can relate to people in many seasons. I don’t take anything for granted.
What does this all mean for you? I’ve learned first hand that wherever you travel, live or work. It’s still you. Geography may change. But do you?
So let’s focus on the internal. What you CAN control. Mindset. Attitude. Language. What words are you using? What thoughts are you having? What feels GOOD?
Let’s start with the inside, and let the external follow. Trust me, it will, you will be magnetic. Attracting what you want. Not chasing it.
Let me help you love what you do and how you do it. Let me help you unleash your Unicorn.
